Vol. 59 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation in Wexford.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that in addition to the area already planted on Forth Mountain, County Wexford, there are hundreds of acres of other parts of the mountain, in the possession of the State, suitable for planting with forest trees; and, if so, if he will instruct the Director of Forestry to have an immediate inspection of the mountain made with a view to having further planting operations commenced.

The Deputy appears to have been misinformed regarding the position at Forth Mountain. The total area acquired for State forestry purposes was 336 acres in four separate blocks, and of this area 297 acres have been planted, the remainder being unsuitable for forestry purposes.
