Vol. 60 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reinstated Civil Servants' Superannuation.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when it is proposed to introduce proposals for legislation to regularise the position of reinstated civil servants in regard to the matter of superannuation.

Some applications for reinstatement have yet to be reported upon by the Committee of Inquiry into the cases of resigned or dismissed civil servants, and the proposed Bill cannot be put in its final form until all such cases have been disposed of. Furthermore, in the course of the preparation of the Bill certain general superannuation questions of a rather complicated nature requiring considerable investigation and consideration have arisen and these have necessarily retarded completion of the Bill. Everything possible is, however, being done to expedite its preparation, but it is unlikely to be introduced before the Easter recess. Under the proposals which the Bill will contain, no reinstatee will suffer by reason of delay in introducing the measure.
