Vol. 60 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bounties on Calf Skins.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total quantity and value of calf skins on which bounties were paid in the years 1934 and 1935, and the total amount of these bounties.

Dr. Ryan

In the year 1934 bounty amounting to £68,843 was paid on 137,686 calf skins, and in 1935 £138,316 was paid on 221,306 calf skins.

There is no information available as to the value of the calf skins on which bounty was paid, as the value of the skins was not a factor in determining the bounty payable.

Would the Minister say how many calves have laid down their lives for this country?

Dr. Ryan

I did not catch that.
