Vol. 60 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Claims.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state for each employment exchange area and branch employment office district the number of persons with claims to unemployment assistance summoned to appear before courts of referees in connection with their claims and the number of such persons whose claims were disallowed following investigation by the courts of referees; whether he will state the provisions of the Act under which these investigations have been ordered; whether any, and, if so, what instructions have been issued to the courts of referees relating to cases referred to them, and whether it is a fact that the payment of benefit is suspended during the period the claim is under consideration by the courts of referees and until a final decision in the matter is communicated by the Department.

I am having the desired information compiled, so far as it is available, and I will send it to the Deputy as soon as possible.
