Vol. 60 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Saorstát Exports to Britain and Northern Ireland.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number and value of cattle (1) under six months old, (2) six months old, but under 15 months old; (3) 15 months old, but under two years old; (4) two years old and upwards, not being mincers; (5) two years old and upwards, being mincers, exported from the Irish Free State to Great Britain and Northern Ireland during the 12 months ended the 31st December, 1935.

The Saorstát Official Export List descriptions under which the statistics of live stock exports are compiled does not enable the information to be given in accordance with the required classification. The number of cattle two years old and upwards on which export bounty was paid in the year 1935 was 309,781.

I would like to know if the Minister, in the figures he has given, is giving the prices realised in the British market or the prices obtained by the Irish exporters? Do the figures include the tariffs or not?

Dr. Ryan

Without tariffs.

This is net to the Irish exporters?

Dr. Ryan

Yes.
