Vol. 60 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mountjoy Square as Children's Playground.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is in a position to announce the steps which it is proposed to take to secure that Mountjoy Square will be made available as a playground for the children of poor people in the neighbourhood who are now without playing places other than the public thoroughfares.

I have taken a close personal interest in this matter and have discussed it on more than one occasion with the City Manager. He informs me he has been in negotiation with the Mountjoy Square commissioners but that some difficulties affecting the position of the latter have so far prevented conclusions from being reached. I have every reason to hope, however, that such differences as have arisen during the negotiations will be adjusted shortly.
