Vol. 60 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Warble Fly Inspectors.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if in connection with the adoption of the Warble Fly (Treatment of Cattle) Order, 1936, by members of the North Tipperary County Council and the appointment of inspectors to put the Order into operation, he will make a full inquiry into all the relevant circumstances surrounding alleged irregularities before sanctioning the appointments.

The answer is in the negative. I understand the county council have been advised that there has been no irregularity in their proceedings in making these appointments which do not require any sanction.

Mr. Bourke

Arising out of that reply, I should like to ask the Minister where he got the information he has given to the House? I have been informed that there has been gross irregularity in connection with these appointments by the North Tipperary County Council. I should like to ask the Minister if he has got the information from his own inspectors that there has been no irregularity in the matter?

I understand that the information was got locally from the officials.

Mr. Bourke

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply given by the Minister, I give notice that I will raise this matter on the adjournment.

Is the Minister aware that the appointment of warble fly inspectors has seemed to have created pandemonium in almost every county council in the Saorstát?

I am not aware of it.
