Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Coir Fibre.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of the last five years for which the figures are available the quantity and value of the coir fibre imported from Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The consignments of coir fibre from Great Britain and Northern Ireland in each of the years 1931 to 1934 were:—

In the first three months of 1935 the consignments were 5,372 cwt., value £3,019. From 1st April, 1935, statistics of imports have been compiled according to country of origin. In the nine months April to December, 1935, imports of coir fibre originating in Great Britain or Northern Ireland were 2,474 cwt., value £2,061.
