Vol. 61 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Notice of Acquisition of Wexford Farmer's Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state why, when the notices were sent recently to six South Wexford landholders formally notifying them that the notices of intention to acquire their lands which had been served on them were withdrawn, Mr. Thomas J. Mayler, M.C.C., of Harristown, Ballymitty, County Wexford, on whom a similar notice of intention to acquire his land was served at the same time, was not also notified that this notice served on him was withdrawn; and if the Minister is aware that Mr. Mayler is the largest employer of agricultural labour in the County Wexford and uses his land for mixed farming in which tillage and feeding occupy the most prominent part.

No notice of intention to acquire any part of his lands was issued to Mr. Mayler. The notice which did issue referred to the proposed inspection of the lands of Harristown, which has since been made. Messrs. Brennan and Godfrey, solicitors for the owner, have been notified pursuant to the provisions of Section 23, Land Act, 1927, of the decision of the land Commission not to proceed to acquire the lands inspected.
