Vol. 63 No. 3

Public Business. - Electoral (University Constituencies) Bill, 1936—Committee and Final Stages.

Bill passed through Committee without amendment.

If there is no objection, perhaps the House would give me the remaining stages of this Bill now.

I think the Bill is rather extravagant. The title sets out that it is "an Act to make provision for the abolition of University Constituencies," etc. I take it that is effectively done, and that there is nothing in this Bill but the machinery for enabling the electors on the University registers to be distributed to the ordinary register should the necessity arise.

If the Minister is satisfied that there is not likely to be any necessity, from his point of view, for any amendment in the Bill, he may have the remaining stages now, because one does not know when the Bill may be required.

Agreed: That the remaining stages of the Bill be taken now.

Bill passed through Final Stages.
