Vol. 63 No. 12

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Peat Development Schemes—Conditions of Employment.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it has yet been decided to give the benefit of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936, to persons employed on peat development schemes, or if he will state the cause of the delay in doing so.

Persons employed on peat development schemes who are industrial workers within the meaning of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936, are already entitled to the benefits of the Act. If the Deputy refers to representations which have been made in the matter of the hours of work of such persons I may say that a decision in the matter will be made at a very early date.
