Committee on Finance. - Sale of Food and Drugs (Milk) Bill, 1936—Committee and Final Stages.

Sections 1 and 2 agreed to.
SECTION 3.
(1) Every sample of milk (not being milk which is contained in closed receptacles for sale retail in such receptacles) taken under the Acts shall be taken in the prescribed manner and shall be of the prescribed amount.

I move amendment No. 1:—

In sub-section (1), page 3, to delete in lines 18 and 19 the brackets and the words enclosed therein.

This is a drafting amendment, consequential on amendment No. 2.

I move amendment No. 2:—

At the end of the section to insert a new sub-section as follows:—

(3) Regulations under this section may provide for different prescribed manners of taking under the Acts samples of milk according to the different containers in which and the different methods by which milk is sold and, in the case where milk is contained in closed receptacles for sale retail in such receptacles, such regulations may provide for the taking of one such receptacle as a sample of such milk.

The object of this amendment is to enable different methods of sampling to be prescribed according to the different containers and circumstances in which milk is sold.
