asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the number of appeals lodged under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act against the determinations of the Deciding Officer and the number of such appeals disposed of by the Referee.

The number of appeals lodged up to the 23rd October, 1936, under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act against the decisions of Deciding Officers is 3,056. The number of such appeals disposed of by the Referees up to the same date is 1,357.
