Vol. 64 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pigs and Bacon Act.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is his intention to make an Order in the election year 1936 under sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) of Section 127 of the Pigs and Bacon Act, 1935; (b) and if for the purposes of the said section he will make an Order declaring the Farmers' Trade Union in Cavan, Monaghan and other northern counties an approved association with a restricted right to elect one of the three producer members to the Pigs Marketing Board and two of the other persons referred to in sub-section (1) of said section; or to form a panel from which the Minister shall nominate one member and two other persons under sub-section (2).

As I am not satisfied that suitable associations of pig producers are yet in existence, I propose in connection with the forthcoming selection of producer members for the Pigs Marketing Board to follow the procedure adopted in the year 1935.
