Vol. 64 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Distribution of Clare Lands.

Mr. P. Hogan

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether representations have been made to his Department to acquire and distribute McInerney's farms at Ballyheir and Ballystein, Liscannor, County Clare; and if in consideration of the fact that there are at least 20 uneconomic holders under £5 valuation bordering this land he will see that it is not acquired privately, but is taken over by the Land Commission for distribution amongst the uneconomic holders and landless men of the district.

Representations have been made to the Land Commission for the acquisition and division of a holding in the townlands of Ballyhean, Ballyvorda, and Ballyea, containing 75 acres 2 roods 4 perches, formerly held by John G. McInerney, who has assigned his interest to Patrick Gonnigle. The question of instituting proceedings for the resumption of this holding for purposes of division is at present under consideration by the Land Commission.

Mr. Hogan

Would the Parliamentary Secretary endeavour to have the matter expedited? He knows it has been under consideration for quite a long time.

I can assure the Deputy there will be no unnecessary delay in the matter.
