Vol. 65 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Classification of Pig Carcases.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state for the year 1936, or latest available year, the num ber of pig carcases classified or graded at licensed premises under the Pigs and Bacon Act, 1935, according to carcases (classification) regulations made under Section 70 of the said Act.

Regulations in regard to the classification and grading of carcases at licensed premises have not been made under Section 70 of the Pigs and Bacon Act, 1935, but the Price Orders made by the Pigs Marketing Board under Section 140 of the Act provide for the classification and grading of pig carcases. The number of pigs used for the manufacture of bacon in licensed premises during the calendar year 1936 was 1,056,853.
