asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (1) the amount of levy per cwt. charged on butter recently imported by the New-market Dairy Company and (2) the delivered purchase price per cwt., and (3) the retail price per cwt.

Dr. Ryan

Levy was charged on importations of 3,157 cwts. of butter at the rate of 53/6 per cwt., and on importations of 3,593 cwts. at the rate of 48/9 per cwt., making the average rate of levy almost 51/- per cwt. The average purchase price of imported butter, delivered in Dublin, is approximately 88/6 per cwt. Imported butter is on sale retail at 1/5 per lb., or 158/8 per cwt.
