Vol. 65 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conditions of Employment in Shops.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is now in a position to indicate definitely when it is proposed to introduce the proposals for legislation to regulate the conditions of employment in shops, which he stated in the Dáil on March 4th, 1936, he hoped to introduce during the session then current.

I am not yet in a position to state when I can introduce the Bill to regulate the hours of work and conditions of employment in shops.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, can he give any approximate date as to when legislation is likely to be introduced? He has been promising this Bill in the Dáil and in public speeches for the last 18 months.

The Bill is in course of preparation, but I cannot say when it will be ready.

Is it likely to be introduced before the Dáil adjourns?

I could not say.
