Vol. 66 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Trawler off Wexford Coast.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that a foreign trawler was in territorial waters off Saltee Islands on the 7th April last, and what steps, if any, he has taken in the matter.

I have had no complaint as to a foreign trawler working at the place named. It was, however, reported to my Department that on or about the date mentioned two French lobster boats were observed to be operating in the area specified, and measures were taken forthwith to deal with the matter. I am pleased to say that as a result the boats in question have since left that area.
