Vol. 67 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Bread by Weight.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that prosecutions have been instituted and convictions obtained against bakers for not selling bread by weight, and if, to avoid misunderstanding in the future, he will issue instructions to the Gárda that only in the case of batch bread (defined in an Order made by the Minister for Industry and Commerce as bread not wholly surrounded by crust and not baked in a tin or container) will the Order regulating price and weight be enforced.

No complaints of this nature have been made to me, but I am causing inquiries to be instituted, and any necessary action will be taken.
