Vol. 67 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state whether he is yet in a position to fix a definite date for the introduction of a scheme to provide pensions for officers and men who are serving in the Army.

The resolution dealing with the scheme to provide pensions for officers, noncommissioned officers and men serving in the Army is in process of being drafted and will be introduced in the Dáil as soon as possible.

Am I to understand that it will be introduced before the Dáil dissolves?

I do not know. That depends on the parliamentary draftsman. It is in his hands.

The Minister will recollect that he indicated some time ago that this scheme would be passed by the Dáil this session?

I had hoped it would be.

Has the Minister abandoned hope?

I have not abandoned it altogether.
