asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the nearest dispensary premises to Corrboy, in the Knockalower dispensary district, North Mayo, is 15 miles distance by road; that the nearest doctor's residence to Corrboy is 22 miles distance; whether he is aware of the hardship endured by the 300 families residing in the half-parish of Corrboy by the inaccessibility of medical attention, and whether he is prepared to establish a dispensary in Carrowteige which will be convenient to the residents of the half-parish.

The dispensary for the Knockalower dispensary district is situated at Poulathomas and the medical officer resides at Belmullet. I am making inquiries as to the facts stated in the first and second parts of the question. As regards the concluding portion of the question no complaint has been received as to any hardship being inflicted on the poor of the area through the present position of the dispensary or the residence of the medical officer. The question of opening a new dispensary is a matter for the Mayo Board of Health and Public Assistance in the first instance.
