Vol. 67 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cappagh (Galway) Drainage District.

Mr. Hogan

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state on what date the trustees of the Cappagh Drainage District, County Galway, ceased to have statutory authority to collect a drainage rate in respect of that district, and whether in fact the rates in respect of that drainage district were paid to them subsequent to the date on which they ceased to have authority to collect such rate, and if he will state what publication was given to the withdrawal of the statutory authority to collect a drainage rate.

The Order of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health transferring the business of the trustees of the Cappagh Drainage District to the Galway County Council is dated 6th August, 1931, and the trustees ceased to have any functions whatever as such from that date. The Commissioners of Public Works have no information as to whether or not drainage rates were paid to the trustees subsequent to the date of the Transfer Order. A copy of the Transfer Order was furnished to the Secretary of the Galway County Council, and the secretary to the trustees was notified of the issue of the Order. The Commissioners are not aware of what publication, if any, was given locally to the issue of the Transfer Order.
