Vol. 68 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Operation of Labourers Act, 1936.

Mr. Hogan (for Mr. Pattison)

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has made an order fixing the appointed day for the purpose of the Labourers Act, 1936; and, if so, whether he will state what day was so appointed; whether he will state further if any boards, and, if so, which boards of health have submitted purchase schemes to him under Section 12 of the Act.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. By order dated the 8th March, 1937, the 31st March, 1937, was fixed as the "appointed day" for the purposes of the Act. Boards of health are allowed by Section 12 of the Act to prepare and submit within six months after the appointed day purchase schemes. Up to the present no purchase schemes have been submitted.
