Vol. 68 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widows' and Orphans' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether it is necessary for widows whose applications were already made under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1935, to make fresh application in order that their cases may be considered under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1937.

It is not necessary for a widow whose claim for a pension was rejected under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1935, to submit a fresh application for a pension under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1937. Widows whose claims were rejected under the Act of 1935 were instructed to this effect and informed that their claims would be reconsidered under the Amending Act. These cases are at present being reconsidered.
