Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Labourers' Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the number of labourers' cottages erected in the area now administered by the County Dublin Board of Health in each of the years 1926 to 1936 inclusive; if he will state the average rent fixed for cottages erected under each separate scheme carried out in that area; whether he can state the sum due in respect of arrears of rent by occupiers of labourers' cottages in County Dublin, and if he will state the number of applicants for cottages in County Dublin for whom cottages have not yet been provided.

The reply is as follows based upon information supplied by the secretary to the county board of public health:—

Particulars regarding labourers' cottages erected in the area now administered by the Dublin Board of Public Health in each of the years 1926 to 1936, inclusive:

The number erected from 1926 to 1931 was 199, and from 1932 to 1936, 848, the total for the eleven year period being 1,047.

The arrears of rent due by tenants of labourers' cottages in County Dublin amounts to £616 9s. 7d.

873 applications for cottages in the county health district have been received in respect of which cottages have not yet been provided. The board have at present in progress schemes comprising the erection of 392 cottages.
