Vol. 69 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing in Bray.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is in a position to state if all the houses situated at Wolfe Tone Square, Bray which needed to be repaired and made weatherproof, were in fact repaired and made weatherproof to his satisfaction, and are still weatherproof, and further, to ask the Minister whether he has been able to ascertain if anyone was responsible for the very unsatisfactory condition of some of these houses last winter, and, if so, what steps he has taken or proposes to take in the matter.

As regards the first part of the question, repairs have been carried out to all the houses at Wolfe Tone Square which were found to be defective. The condition of these houses is still receiving the attention of the council's surveyor. I have had inspections made of the houses while repairs were being carried out, but I am not yet in a position to state if all the defects have been permanently removed. I have arranged for a final inspection of the houses at the end of next week when I will communicate further with the Deputy.
