Vol. 69 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Village Road.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Board of Works intend, and, if so, when, to complete the road from Robeen to the village of Cashel, in the parish of Robeen, and County of Mayo, as has been promised to the inhabitants of Cashel.

It has not been found possible to identify with certainty the road referred to by the Deputy. It is probably the following:—

Repairs to an accommodation and bog road in the townland of Cashel and the electoral division of New-brook, commencing at the county road at Patrick Killeen's land, Cashel; and continuing to the house of M.J. Trench, Cashel.

If this is, in fact, the case the Deputy has in mind, a grant has been sanctioned from the Employment Fund, and the work was included in the programme of minor employment schemes for the present winter and notified to the county surveyor on the 29th September last. I am not aware of any prior promise having been made to carry out this work.

Am I to understand that this road is, in fact, going to be repaired during this winter?

If the road is the one referred to——

I presume it is.

——then the answer is yes.
