Vol. 69 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Poultry Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that for some time past there has been a marked falling off in our exports of poultry; and whether, in view of the importance of that industry to the Free State, he will have inquiries made as to the value of the German market for our produce, and the possibility of securing a substantial quota to that country.

I am aware that there has been a falling off in the exports of poultry in recent years, although the aggregate quantities of live and dead poultry exported in 1936 were approximately 4 per cent. greater than in 1935. The possibilities of securing outlets in Germany and other markets for our exportable surplus of poultry have received, and will continue to receive, attention.
