Vol. 69 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Stall-fed Cattle.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he intends to give farmers a subsidy on stall-fed cattle, and, if so, when he proposes to give it.

I am not, at present, in a position to add to the answers I gave to questions relative to a subsidy or bounty on stall-fed cattle which were put to me by Deputies Harris and Cole on the 27th ultimo and 10th instant, respectively.

Is not this the period in which people put cattle in to fatten, and should they not know in advance if the Minister intends to give a subsidy, so that they may fix the number to put in?

That is true. They should know as soon as possible.

Has the Minister any scheme under consideration?

Yes—to see if it is practicable.
