Vol. 69 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Amendment of Labourers Act, 1936.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has considered the advisability of introducing proposals for legislation for the purpose of amending the Labourers Act, 1936, in order to make provision for tenants in arrears of rent to take advantage of the purchase scheme provided by the Act by (a) having these arrears funded and the amount so funded paid by small additional payments per week, or (b) to capitalise the arrears and in such cases to extend the period of repayment and, if so, if he can state when such proposals for legislation will be introduced.

The answer is in the affirmative. Proposals will be introduced in the present session.
