Vol. 69 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Beet Factory.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is prepared to consider County Dublin for the establishing of another beet factory if the counties adjoining and the County Dublin guarantee a required acreage of beet.

As the four beet sugar factories at present operated by Cómhlucht Siúcre Eireann, Teoranta, are capable of producing sufficient sugar to meet the entire needs of the country, it is not proposed at present to consider the establishment of a further factory.

Is it not a fact that foreign sugar is coming into this country at present?

On which the Government collects a comfortable licence fee?
