Vol. 70 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dispensary and Clinic for Clones.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether plans and specifications had been submitted to him for dispensary and clinic premises in the town of Clones and, if so, whether he is aware that the delay in authorising the erection of these premises is causing grave inconvenience to the people of Clones and district.

I am fully aware of the urgent need of providing a clinic in Clones but the delay in the matter is not attributable to my Department.

Approval to the purchase of a site for a clinic from the Clones Urban District Council was given to the Monaghan Board of Health on the 21st December, 1936. Approval to the sale of the site by the urban council to the board of health was given on the 5th January, 1937. Deed of conveyance of site was asked for on the 21st December, 1936, 24th April, 1937, 10th July, 1937, and 8th September, 1937. Deed of conveyance was received in my Department on the 17th September, 1937. A sketch plan was received from the board of health on the 8th January, 1938. This plan is being examined by the Department's technical advisers and it is hoped to issue the necessary approval at an early date.
