Vol. 70 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Banking Commission Report.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received the report of the Banking Commission and, if so, when does he propose to make it available for perusal by the public.

I have not yet received any report from the Commission of Inquiry into Banking, Currency and Credit.

Will the Minister say when he expects to receive the report?

I am not in a position to say that. I have refrained from any sort of contact with the Commission since it was set up.

I feel sure the Minister has studiously refrained from all official contact. If he went on to say all contact I should demur a little. But, leaving that out of the question, is it the Minister's intention on receipt of that report to make it available to the House and to the country at the earliest possible moment?

That is a matter which I am not prepared to answer now.

asked the Minister for Finance (1) if any interim reports have been received from the Banking Commission; (2) if he can state if he has any information as to when the final report will be ready and when it will be circulated to members of the Dáil.

No interim reports have been received from the Commission of Inquiry into Banking, Currency and Credit and I have no information as to when the final report of the Commission will be ready or when it will be possible to circulate it to members of the Dáil.
