Vol. 70 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensions in Gaeltacht Areas.

asked the Minister for Finance if in the matter of old age pensions he will take steps to have a special basis of reckoning the means of applicants in Gaeltacht areas and particularly in the Kerry cattle scheduled area commensurate with the conditions obtaining in such areas.

I do not propose to take any steps regarding the methods employed by pensions officers in the Gaeltacht for estimating the means of applicants for old age pensions. In estimating such means, officers always have due regard to local conditions.
