Written Answers. - Houses Built in 1932-37 Period.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state for (a) urban areas and (b) rural areas in respect of each of the years 1932 to 1937 inclusive the total number of houses erected by (a) local authorities and (b) private persons and public utility societies; and if he will also state the number of houses in course of erection and approved for erection by (a) local authorities, and (b) private persons and public utility societies at December 31st, 1937, and the number of houses reconstructed in the period 1932/37.

The numbers of houses erected by (a) local authorities and (b) private persons and public utility societies in urban areas and rural areas during each of the calendar years 1932 to 1937 inclusive are as follows:—

The numbers of houses in course of erection and approved for erection by local authorities at December 31st, 1937, were as follows:—

The number of houses approved for erection by private persons and public utility societies at 31st December, 1937, was 8,175. There is no information as to the number of these houses actually in course of erection at that date.

The number of houses reconstructed in the period 1932/37 was 13,521.
