Vol. 71 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Register of Unemployed

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of unemployed clerks and shop assistants on the unemployed register in Dublin City for the years 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937, and what numbers secured employment through the labour exchange (a) permanently, (b) temporarily, and for what periods in each of those years temporary employment was secured.

A statement will be circulated with the Official Report showing in respect of the years 1934 to 1937, inclusive, the number of clerks and shop assistants on the Live Register at Dublin Exchange at the end of each quarter and the number of vacancies filled during each quarter.

It is not possible to distinguish between the numbers who secured employment through the Labour Exchange (a) permanently or (b) temporarily, nor the periods for which temporary employment was secured.

Following is the tabular statement:—
