Written Answers. - Acquisition of Leix-Offaly Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what steps, if any, have been taken for the purpose of acquiring the lands of Mr. Patrick Horan, Clonbrone, County Offaly, and whether a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have so far taken no proceedings for the resumption of the holdings of Patrick Horan on the estate of the Earl of Rosse, Record No. S.2637, but the question as to whether proceedings for their resumption should be instituted has been noted for investigation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what steps, if any, have been taken for the purpose of acquiring the lands of Messrs. Michael Delahunty, Ballygaddy, and Thomas Ardill, Tullaroe, Clareen, County Offaly, and whether division schemes will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Thomas Ardill which comprises an area of 116 acres of the lands of Tullaroe.

The Land Commission are unable from the particulars furnished to identify the lands of Michael Delahunty, who is not shown as rated occupier for any lands in the townland of Ballygaddy.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what action, if any, has been taken for the purpose of acquiring Kidds lands, Maidenhead, County Leix, and whether a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The question as to whether resumption proceedings should be instituted for the holding of Harold kidd, containing some 193 acres in the townland of Maidenhead, on the Coote estate, is under investigation by the Land Commission. At the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state whether or when the lands will be resumed and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission intend to acquire the lands of Thomas Fingleton, Kilrory, Stradbally, County Leix; and, if so, whether a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission propose to have inquiries made regarding the holding of Thomas Fingleton, which comprises an area of 42 acres of the lands of Kilrory and Kylespiddoge, in order to ascertain whether the lands are suitable for their purposes, but at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission propose to acquire the lands of Mr. Young, Brockley Park, Stradbally, County Leix; whether a division scheme is in course of preparation, and, if so, whether same will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission are having inquiries made regarding the estate of John W. Young, which comprises the lands of Brockley Park, Inch, and Garrons, but until these inquiries have been completed it is not possible to state whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands whether it is the intention of the Land Commission to acquire the lands of Mr. James Lawlor, Cappinard, County Leix; and, if so, whether a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

The lands in question would appear to be situate on the estate of Mr. James Lawlor, Cappanarrow, Mountrath, which comprises the lands of Cappanarrow, 28 acres, and Tinnakill, 81 acres. The Land Commission are having inquiries made regarding the lands of Tinnakill, but at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what action, if any, has been taken for the purpose of acquiring the Carter estate, Lacca, Camross, County Leix, and if a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

Proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission and are in progress for the resumption of the four holdings of Mr. W.S.J. Carter comprising a total area of 468 a. 0 r. 12 p. on the Despard estate, Record No. S.3055, County Leix, and the tenant has consented to resumption. At the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state if a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what steps, if any, have been taken for the purpose of acquiring the lands of Burton Jackson (Record No. U.594), Rathdowney, Laoighis, and if a division scheme is likely to be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have decided to have enquiries made regarding the estate of John R. Burton Jackson, which comprises the lands of Cappalinnan, 215 acres and Clonburron, 1 acre, but it is not possible at the present stage of proceedings to state whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the cause of the delay in acquiring and dividing the Kenny estate, Rossdarragh, Rathdowney, County Leix, and whether a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

A provisional list and certificate pursuant to Section 25 of the Land Act, 1936, in respect of the lands of Rossdarragh and Cappalinnan on the estate of Henry D. Kenny, Record No. S. 8291, was gazetted by the Land Commission on the 13th April, 1937. An objection to acquisition was lodged by the owner. Further proceedings have had to be postponed as the case is governed by an adverse legal decision relative to procedure by the Land Commission for the compulsory acquisition of untenanted land. In the circumstances it is not possible to state at present whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission intend to acquire the estate of Joseph Dames, County Offaly (Record No. U. 10592), and, if so, whether a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have obtained particulars of the estate of Joseph Dames, which comprises the lands of Cannakill, 207 acres, and Croghan Demesne, 105 acres, but no proceedings have as yet been instituted for the acquisition of the lands.
