Vol. 71 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State-controlled Trawling Company.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has in contemplation the formation of a trawling company, controlled by his Department, or subsidised directly or indirectly out of State Funds.

The reply to this question is in the negative. I have frequently expressed the opinion that any such development is clearly one for commercial enterprise.

Has the Minister been consulted by any persons anxious to form such a company?

Yes, I had consultation with a number of groups.

And nothing practical has eventuated.

Not so far.
