Vol. 71 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blackrock (Cork) Playing Field.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has received an application on behalf of the Blackrock (Cork) Hurling Club, asking him to use his powers under the Land Act, 1933 (Section 33), to acquire part of the Beaumont estate as a playing field for the club, and if, seeing that such powers have already been exercised to acquire a single field in Tipperary town, he will take steps to accede to the application made by the Blackrock club, which guarantees to find the necessary security for the payment of the revised annuity for the land so acquired.

An application for the acquisition of a sports field in the locality mentioned by the Deputy has been received and will be considered by the Local Commission.

As the Minister is aware, the particular estate preferred to is being offered for sale at the moment, and if the opportunity of acquiring it is lost now it may not occur again.

Mr. Boland

All the particulars are before the Land Commission. I have had representations from all sides about it.

The Land Commission is working on them.

Mr. Boland

I think so. I sent on all the representations that were sent to me.
