Vol. 71 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National School, Athenry.

asked the Minister for Education if it is proposed to erect a male national school in Athenry, County Galway; and, if so, when it is expected the erection of it will commence.

An application for a grant towards the cost of building a new national school for boys in Athenry has been received from the manager. Some sites offered by him for the erection of this school were inspected, but were found to be unsuitable. When a suitable site has been secured by the manager steps will be taken to have building operations begun as soon as possible.

Arising out of the Minsiter's reply, is he not aware that a site had been approved by two inspectors from his Department or the Board of Works, and that a third inspector came along and condemned the site? I should like to know for what reason it was condemned, seeing that the site had bern bought and title proved by the manager, and that he was led to believe the school would be erected on that site.
