Vol. 73 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the inquiries into the question of acquiring the estate of R. H. M. Reeves at Oldtown, Kildare, have been completed, and whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the lands.

Mr. Boland

The estate of Geoffrey E. Reeves (formerly in the ownership of R.H.M. Reeves, since deceased) containing 158a. 2r. 38p. in the townland of Oldtown, County Kildare, was acquired by the Land Commission on the 15th December, 1936, and divided among eight allottees on the 3rd March, 1937.

Is it proposed to acquire any more of that land?

Mr. Boland

I do not know about that. I understood that this was the estate about which the Deputy was inquiring, and I have no further information, but I will look the matter up.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the estate of the representatives of the late James Kelly at Maddenstown South, Kildare (Record No. U5209); and if he will state how the matter now stands.

Mr. Boland

As the Deputy has been already informed, the Land Commission instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the lands in question, but an objection was lodged by the owners. This objection has not yet been disposed of. Further inquiries into representations made by the owners are proceeding.
