Vol. 73 No. 5

Committee on Finance. - Defence Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Bill, 1938—Committee Stage.

Bill put through Committee without amendment, and reported.

Would Deputies care to take the remaining Stages now, or shall we leave them over until next Wednesday?

On this side of the House there is no objection to taking them now, but when the Taoiseach was acting as Minister for Defence last week he said that on another Stage he would be prepared to make a statement with regard to certain cases.

We can deal with that on the Fifth Stage, if we are taking the Report Stage now.

We object to the Report Stage being taken now.

Is the Minister in a position to make a statement now, or does he propose to postpone it?

The Fifth Stage would be the most appropriate time to make that statement.

Report Stage fixed for Wednesday, 23rd November.
