asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amounts paid by way of subsidy and export bounty in respect of each category of industrial products exported between the 1st April, 1938, and the date of cessation of such payments, and the total amount so paid during this period.

Bounties and subsidies continue to be paid on foot of claims in respect of industrial products exported before the date of discontinuance of such bounties and subsidies, viz., 18th May, 1938.
It would not be possible, without the expenditure of an unreasonable amount of time and labour, to determine the payments made in respect of goods exported during any particular period, but I propose, with the Deputy's permission, to circulate with the Official Report a table showing the payments actually made during the period from 1st April, 1938, to a current date.
