Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission propose to take steps to acquire the lands known as Luttrellstown estate, at Woodslands, Clonsilla, comprising 600 acres, owned by the Hon. Mrs. A. Plunkett, London, as this estate is non-residential and let on the conacre system.

Mr. Boland

Representations have been made to the Land Commission in favour of the acquisition of the Plunkett estate in question and the matter is under consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands if any steps have been taken to acquire the Flaherty estate, Killusty, Fethard, County Tipperary, containing 300 statute acres which has been let on the 11 months' system for a large number of years; and if, in view of the great necessity there is to relieve congestion in this area, he will expedite the acquisition and division of this estate.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have decided to have inquiries made as to the suitability of the Flaherty estate for acquisition. The matter is being expedited as much as possible.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to take steps to acquire the lands of Bestfield, on the Bruen estate, County Carlow (Rec. No. 1782), for division; and, if so, when the lands are likely to be acquired.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission, having considered the circumstances of the estate to which the Deputy refers, do not propose to acquire the lands.
