Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation in Laoighis-Offaly.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the acreage of land, if any, proposed to be acquired and set aside for afforestation purposes on the Castletown estate, Granstown, Ballacolla, County Laoighis.

There are no proposals before the Land Commission for the acquisition of the Castletown estate at Granstown for afforestation purposes.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total acreage of land acquired for afforestation purposes in the Counties of Laoighis and Offaly since the 1st January, 1933; the total acreage already inspected for the same purpose, and the actual or estimated acreage proposed to be acquired before the end of the present year.

Since the 1st January, 1933, the total area acquired for State afforestation purposes in the County of Laoighis was 4,672 acres and in the County of Offaly was 2,734 acres.

The other particulars which the Deputy desires are not readily available, but they will be forwarded to him as soon as they can be ascertained.
