Vol. 74 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wool and Cotton Flock.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of the years 1935 to 1938 inclusive the quantities of (a) wool flock and (b) cotton flock imported from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the value of such imports.

The official import list provides a description for the imports of flock, but does not require it to be separately declared as of wool or cotton. Prior to May, 1935, all kinds of flock imported were not entirely separable from imports of textile materials under general headings. All available figures in relation to the years 1935, 1936 and 1937 were published on page 113 of Trade and Shipping Statistics for the year 1937. In the year 1938, 3,528 cwts. of flock, valued at £10,787, were imported from Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
