Vol. 74 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Spring Wheat.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the very unfavourable weather since last autumn on account of which the seeding of winter wheat was held up, he will prepare a scheme without delay for making available to farmers at a reasonable price sufficient quantities of spring varieties of wheat.

The situation as regards the sowing of winter wheat is being carefully watched. The dry weather at the end of January and the beginning of the present month has considerably improved the prospect for substantial sowings of winter wheat. I am satisfied that there will be available, in due course, a reasonable supply of wheat seed of spring varieties.

Where has the Minister found the dry weather?
