Vol. 74 No. 1

Death of Deputy James Walter Beckett.

Members of the House will recollect with regret the death shortly before Christmas of Deputy James Walter Beckett. The late Deputy was a worthy member of a family which has for many years held a distinguished place in the commercial life of Dublin, and he himself at all times took a keen and practical interest in the affairs of his native city. During the many years of his membership of this House, he attended conscientiously to the interests of his constituents and assisted the House by his wide experience of business matters. His kindly presence will be missed by all of us. I ask you, a Chinn Comhairle, to convey to Deputy Beckett's widow and family the sincere sympathy of Dáil Eireann.

Deputies rose in their places.
