Vol. 75 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sorting Assistants and Writing Assistant Class.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state what is the cause of the delay in announcing a decision on the representations which have been made to his Department regarding the assimilation of sorting assistants to the writing assistant class; and if he will state when a definite decision will be arrived at.

The question of the assimilation of the sorting assistant class—a Departmental class—to the writing assistant class—a general service class—involves considerations of a general character affecting grades other than those immediately concerned, both in the Post Office and in other Departments. The inquiries in the matter are not complete, and I am not at present in a position to state when a decision can be arrived at.
